2.00 Introduction to Design
2.00 Introduction to Design is an introductory course to product and engineering design through hands-on design projects. Students will work both individually and in small teams of 5-6 members to design and prototype new products. Students will be introduced to technical and intellectual skills to understand and develop design methods and approaches and uncover new skills, methods, and ideas. A range of design techniques will be presented including brainstorming; sketching; sketch modeling; concept development; design aesthetics; and prototyping to help students think about, evaluate, and communicate designs, from sketching to physical prototyping and other types of modeling.
Students are asked to assume a high degree of personal responsibility for their 2.00 experience. This is a course in which the level of effort and engagement will reflect in the richness of learning and experience.
