21T.150 Playwriting Fundamentals

The course is focused on building your foundational skills as a dramatist, while emphasizing process, play, and practice as ways of unlocking your voice on the page. Through weekly assignments and in-class exercises, we will explore character, conflict, language, structure, and plasticity in scenes and short plays. In workshop format, students present individual work for feedback and heavily revise their work based on that response. Readings include a formally diverse selection of contemporary plays.
