Panopto Overview & Resources
What is Panopto?
- Panopto is MIT's lecture capture tool and video hosting platform that allows you to record, host, share, and search videos. Panopto is fully integrated with Canvas and Zoom, allowing for seamless sharing of video with students.
How can Panopto help with teaching & learning?
- Any videos you create - in addition to ones recorded via lecture capture - can easily be shared on the Canvas site via the integration. Videos can be added as items under Modules or embedded on a page/anywhere that uses the rich content editor. When video files are shared on Canvas this way, it will not use up the Canvas site's storage space.
- Easy for students to review class content, at their own pace (speed up, skip around, re-watch certain segments)
- For additional engagement, Panopto videos support embedding questions - i.e., to give a low-stakes quiz by embedding questions at strategic points in a video
