This course covers physical, mathematical and simulation aspects of fluid flow and transport through porous media. Conservation equations for multiphase, multicomponent flow. Numerical methods for elliptic equations. Numerical methods for hyperbolic equations. Modeling of viscous fingering and convective mixing. Modeling coupled flow and geomechanics. Applications to groundwater contamination, oil and gas reservoir simulation, and geological CO2 sequestration, among others.
