ES.S90 Disability and the Criminal Justice System

This course partners with experts within the criminal justice system, and with incarcerated individuals with and without disabilities to understand how incarcerated people with disabilities are treated within the system and discuss how that treatment could be improved. We will explore the intersection of disability, accessibility, assistive technology, and the criminal justice system within the United States. Utilize ethnographic practices, listening to the stories of incarcerated individuals with disabilities, we will explore and possibly design assistive technologies appropriate for use within the American criminal justice system.
