21T.110 Physical Improvisation: Bodies, Lecture 2
Bodies in Motion is a somatic movement course for every body. Each class will begin with a warmup designed to increase movement vocabulary while improving proprioception so we can work toward more complex coordination patterns. The second half of class will be devoted to improvisational exercises, games and choreographic structures that challenge our ability to adapt and create in the moment, enhancing both functionality and expressivity. We work individually, with partners, and as a group to practice creative choice-making, giving and receiving weight/touch information, and developing our individual and group awareness. We will gently challenge our capacity to work within states of disorientation and organize the weights of the body efficiently, creating a playful relationship to physical forces that govern our bodies while in motion.

21T.150 Playwriting Fundamentals
The course is focused on building your foundational skills as a dramatist, while emphasizing process, play, and practice as ways of unlocking your voice on the page. Through weekly assignments and in-class exercises, we will explore character, conflict, language, structure, and plasticity in scenes and short plays. In workshop format, students present individual work for feedback and heavily revise their work based on that response. Readings include a formally diverse selection of contemporary plays.
